“There's always a story. It's all stories, really. The sun coming up every day is a story. Everything's got a story in it. Change the story, change the world.”

About Oddball Tales

Oddball Tales is a monthly newsletter and blog that brings you short stories and writerly talk in written and spoken form, accompanied by visual art.

My aim in building this home is twofold.

First, to entertain; to transport you to different dimensions, to introduce you to the people, animals, objects, who nag me to have their stories told.

Second, to foster talk about writing, storytelling, sources of inspiration within a passionate community.

Telling stories and listening to stories is one of our primal instincts.

Shall we share this fundamental human experience?

About the Oddball Author

I am Magnolia, a magnet for stories.

Ever since I remember, characters have always made their way to me. Sometimes they come in dreams, with surprisingly consistent plots; sometimes, they come during showers, and I have to quickly get out to write everything down; sometimes, they just come out of completely random places.

They come with their thoughts and stories, and I craft them on paper and screen; I am their listener, their channeler.

Get your monthly dose of stories

Free subscribers will receive one short story every month, in spoken and written form, together with one visual artwork inspired by the story. Every monthly issue of the newsletter goes directly to your inbox.

The tone and style of my stories vary greatly; I don't belong to a specific genre. I've written drama, comedy, dystopian, even some poems. You'll never know what to expect.

Want more stories and writing stuff?

A Premium dose of stories and writing talk is currently brewing.

It will contain more writerly talk on my writing process and more behind the scenes as I embark on the journey of writing my very first novel. Being a sprinter more than a marathoner, tackling this format will be an adventure, and I am eager to bring you all along.

More is still to be defined. Keep your eyes peeled and subscribe so you don’t miss it when it lands!
